About Me
I am a qualified counsellor registered with the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP) and I hold a BACP accredited Diploma in psychodynamic counselling. Before working as a counsellor, I was a barrister for many years and my practice included acting in the family courts for clients going through divorce and disputes relating to children.
Counselling enables you to talk to a professional who is impartial and who plays a different role in your life from a friend or family member. It allows you to talk with someone who is trained to listen attentively and it gives you the space to examine your life in an uniquely honest way. I believe that we have within us the resources to change and to improve our lives but sometimes we may need someone to help and support us with this. It is often difficult to talk to people close to you, leaving you feeling lonely, confused or unsupported. At such times talking to a counsellor about whatever is troubling you can help you find better coping strategies so you can move forward in a way that is more satisfying to you.
I work with a range of psychological and emotional issues including: separation and divorce, relationship difficulties, domestic abuse, anxiety, stress (including work-related stress), depression, self-esteem difficulties, grief, loss and trauma. I practise both long and short-term models of counselling. As a registered member of the BACP I uphold a high level of care and confidentiality and abide by the BACP Ethical Framework.
Drawing on my legal background, I also offer tailored separation and divorce coaching. The process of separation or divorce is often bewildering and highly stressful. Whilst I cannot give you legal advice I can provide you with key legal information, help you make sense of the process and think through your options so that you can make carefully considered decisions.
In addition to my private practice, I work with a local counselling centre offering counselling to those in Tunbridge Wells, Sevenoaks, Tonbridge and the surrounding Kent area.
